Tarkanian Basketball Academy Reminders For The Week Of August 14th

Jerry Tarkanian Birthday Party   On Saturday night, at Jerry Tarkanian's birthday party (at TBA), he was given a KEY to the city of Las Vegas and was also awarded an official "Jerry Tarkanian Day". As we all know, it was Coach Tark that changed basketball life here in Las Vegas. Moses Scurry Camp We just concluded the 1st annual Moses Scurry camp. We want to thank all the parents and kids who came and participated in one of the greatest camps Las Vegas has ever had. Several kids walked away with pictures and autographs of Larry Johnson, Anderson Hunt, David Butler, and Moses Scurry. The highlight of the camp was seeing the "Basketball King" of Vegas: Jerry Tarkanian! Coach Tarkanian shared several stories to parents and kids in the morning session.   Summer Basketball Camp August 15-18 (Monday through Thursday) 9:00-12:00 = $100 (all ages)  2:00-5:00 = $100 (ages 10 and up) * $150 if kids want to attend both sessions (we recommend this) * $20 per kid for lunch during the entire camp or kids can bring their own lunch (if players are attending both sessions). THERE IS STILL ROOM FOR THIS WEEK'S CAMP!!!! If you have not yet registered, arrive at the door by 8:45 to sign up. TBA staff will continue to give Nike prizes at the end of all our camps.   Travel/Club Team "RUNNIN' REBELS ARE BACK"!!!   We have had to re-arrange our travel teams schedule this week. Here is the updated schedule for this week. 3rd/4th grade - 5:00-6:30 pm 5th/6th grade - 5:00-6:30 pm 7th/8th grade - 6:30-8:00 pm Those who have not paid their starter kit fee of $125, need to try to pay it tomorrow at practice. We MUST order uniforms, bags, balls, etc. asap. Also, this is a reminder to everyone that our travel teams will get FREE team entry to all TBA tournaments and parents will get into all TBA tournaments for FREE!!! Other programs are charging team entry fees up to $85 a player and then charging parents admissions.  The other advantage is we have our OWN FACILITY! See everyone Monday night at your scheduled time. Please pass this message on to everyone!!! 3. Labor Day Weekend Tournament We have a lot of teams starting to sign up. Our goal is to get a least 4 teams per division. Each division has at least 2 teams, with some divisions having 4. Please email me asap to get your teams enrolled!!! Summer camps at Advantage Basketball camps main focus will be ball handling skill drills and moves off the dribble. This is by far the most important part of the game. Trying to learn the rest of the game is a waste of time if you cannot handle the basketball. The main focus is ball handling skill drills that help develop the athlete’s skill level thus enabling them to execute the moves they will be practicing at the camp. our secondary focus is teaching moves off the dribble. Both skill development techniques are used at all camps but the main focus is ball handling drills that are critical to getting the kids to be able to get the ball low and handle it properly so they can play the game at the level necessary to succeed in today's fast pace style of play.. We will also cover shooting and defense. Then which moves to use where, when and why. This will include court awareness in relation to where you are on the court. Where your defender is and where the help defense will be rotating from...... Try our camps once and you will be back again and again. Our camps are truly that good. These are not day care service camps. We run a very professional camp that is hard work but produces great results. Phenom Competitive Youth Basketball Camps

We currently have a few spots that opened up for this years' camp 2011.  If you know of any special players that are not signed up and are looking to attend please contact our office so we can get them approved by our regional camp directors or Phenom Camp Director.

West Coast National Championships All Under 1 Roof

Hosted by Jam On It Basketball Academy Entering the 5th season in Las Vegas, Jam On It Basketball Academy is the host club for a series of All Under 1 Roof Basketball Tournaments, starting off with the AAU West Coast Nationals July 21- 24, Jam On It Grand Finale July 26- 28 and ending with the AAU West Coast Junior Olympics July 29-31, 2011. The tournaments are open to boys and girls teams and are a program of the AAU National Office. 

The tournament will have both: * Division I (Elite Teams) and* Division II (non elite teams). Teams do not have to qualify for the tournament. *July 21-24 AAU West Coast Nationals (Las Vegas Hilton) *July 26-28 Jam On It Grand Finale (Las Vegas Hilton) *July 29-31 AAU West Coast Junior Olympics (Las Vegas Hilton) GRADES 4th – 12th. 

Boys and Girls ENTRY FEE: $500 per team ENTRY DEADLINE: June 15, 2011 (some divisions fill earlier) AWARDS: First and Second place team trophies and individual medals FORMAT: 4 Game minimum. Pool Play followed by bracket play RULES: Tournament will follow current AAU Basketball Rules • This event is sanctioned by the Amateur Athletic Union of the U. S., Inc. • All participants must have a current AAU membership. • AAU membership may not be included as part of the entry fee to the event. • AAU membership must be obtained before the competition begins except where the event operator has a laptop available with an internet connect.
