Danny Granger Hurricanes

The major sponsor of the Danny Granger Hurricanes is Danny Granger, NBA star with the Indiana Pacers and former University of New Mexico great.

The purpose of the Danny Granger Hurricanes, formerly the Southwest Titans Club, is to serve as an avenue to develop young players for the next step beyond recreational basketball and to identify players of a higher caliber who have set their goals on reaching higher standards.

The commitment is one to two practices a week and 5 to 7 competitive national and regional tournaments. Teams may also have additional training nights and multiple scrimmages. This commitment begins for some teams in November while others might not start until March and runs through the end of July.

This opportunity will provide each player the chance to play with some of the better players from New Mexico, El Paso area and neighboring states and prepare them for High School and collegiate competition.

The New Mexico Force Basketball Club Team

Albuquerque Force Youth Basketball (AFYB), (aka New Mexico Force), is a non-profit, 501 c (3), organization dedicated to working with young men ages 10 through 17.  Since 1992, their objective is to provide a positive environment and outlet for the top basketball players throughout the entire state of New Mexico, to include El Paso, Amarillo and the surrounding states.  The organization stresses the importance of family, schoolwork and the development of their players throughout all levels of their club system.  For more information on this organization click here.

New Mexico Jr. Hawks Basketball Club Team

One of New Mexico's largest AAU youth basketball club organizations is holding tryouts for its 5th through 8th grade teams.   If you are interested in playing for the Jr Hawks club team get in touch with program director Jason Bulling at 414-1978.

The Jr Hawks program is first and foremost about Core Values. These are the way in which their coaches approach their duties as mentors and the way they encourage their players to approach the game of basketball and the game of life.

The New Mexico Select Club Basketball Program

The New Mexico Select Club Basketball Program is known as the premier girl's AAU Basketball Organization in the state & district of New Mexico. The club is based out of Albuquerque, New Mexico.

The club objectives include enhancing the basketball skills of its players which will allow them to play at the high-school level and compete for college scholarships, provide them with a good understanding of the game of basketball, field competitive teams in State and National level tournaments, and most importantly produce young athletes with life skills (good work ethic, co-operation, self-confidence, spirituality, knowing how and when to have fun) that have been enhanced through their participation in basketball.

The New Mexico Select coaching staff focuses on teaching fundamental basketball and team skills through a combination of practices and tournament participation. They also emphasize the importance of sport and academics as a component in overall personal development. All coaches are volunteers, are trained, and have high school and/or college playing experience, and most are also parents of at least one athlete in the program.

The club fields multiple teams ranging from 9 to 17 yrs old.  The Select organization was formed with one team in 2005 by Fred Opel and Steve Zegar.  In 2006 Fred and Steve invited Bill Krum and Tom Poulin to join the organization and the club was expanded to four teams.  Since this partnership in 2005 the club has rapidly grown to multiple boys and girls competitive teams and is currently functioning as an official 501-c3 non-profit organization.
