Too often the "dunk" is the celebrated skill by the media and basketball players.  However, multiple surveys of recruiters and coaches throughout the country indicate that coaches first look to shooting skills as the primary skill to build upon.

Unfortunately, basketball players don't have access to quality high-priced shooting machines.  Major brand stores do carry cost-effective shooting aids, however, more often than not, these shooting tools are of low quality resulting in a short-term life for the product.

The 2010 Arizona Junior High Basketball Tournament

The 2010 Arizona Junior High Basketball Tournament begins on Friday, January 8 and 9 and then continue January 15, 16 and 18, 2010.  It is expected that many teams will be returning, as well as some new schools joining the competition. This tournament will be limited to 24 teams. The tournament coordinator asks that everyone respects those around them when attending the tournament, and refrain from any foul language, negative comments, and inappropriate behavior toward the opposing team, coaches, officials and/or staff.  The tournament officials are AIA certified and have the authority to manage any disruptive or inappropriate behavior during the tournament.

Admission fees this year are as follows:

Friday                                     Adults $4                  Children 12-17         $2

Saturday (one fee for day)        Adults $5                  Children 12-17         $2

Monday (championship day)     Adults $5                  Children 12-17         $2

Children 11 and under are free!

K-9 Unit Basketball Academy

Arizona's basketball instruction community has an addition to its rank in the name of the K–9 Basketball Academy.  The basketball academy is concentrated in the west valley and sports club teams, camps and tournaments as part of its overall offerings.

Its mission is to provide an opportunity for players of all different abilities to develop their overall game and increase self-confidence by creating an environment where they can learn, grow, improve individual skills, develop character and compete against the best athletes in the region and nation, while balancing the needs and responsibilities of family, school and community.

The academy provides a quality, well organized, basketball program for boys and girls, ages 8 to 18, that offers advanced instruction in basketball fundamentals and team play and life concepts. This instruction, along with participation and exposure in competitive tournaments and off-season basketball camps and training sessions, will help prepare their players for the next level of their careers, education and life.
