Martin Luther King Tournament January 16 - 18, 2010

The Martin Luther King youth basketball tournament will be held on January 16-18th and features the top teams in Arizona and surrounding states. The three-day tournament, which is sanctioned by USSSA basketball, has six boys grade divisions; 3rd/4th/5th/6th/7th/8th and two girls divisions 7th/8th.

Dates: Jan 16-18, 2010
Location: Salvation Army Youth Center, 1351 E. Broadway Rd, Phoenix, AZ
Cost: $295/team

Earn Money Hosting Basketball Camps with a Nationally Recognized Program

Junior Hoops of America is working with Advantage Basketball Camps, a national member partner that has been running camps for 20 plus years and considered as one of the top camps in the country.  Can you can provide a gym for no cost for a week during the summertime or school breaks from 8:00am to 5:30pm Monday through Friday?

Make Money:

If so, you or your buster club or organization of your choice will get paid $25.00 per kid (after the first 10 kids) for every kid that comes to camp .  It is also required that you are able to line up local staff to work the camp.   The program will also pay $100 per day for two individuals that you will give the title of top staff.  These individuals should be someone who knows the game and can demonstrate the skills you will be teaching.  This is almost always a school coach or teacher.  They should be reliable responsible adults that you can count on to help run things.  Our member partner will fly in a staff leader as well to run the camp.

Your Responsibilities:

• Securing and providing a gym.
• Securing and providing local staff to work the camp.
• As much promoting as you can do to promote the camp.

Provided To You:

• Insurance for the use of the gym.
• Take care of all registration.
• Compensation for your school, your buster club or organization of your choice.
• Promotional material.
• Someone to run the camp.
• The marketing campability that comes with 20 years of running camps and being one of the largest and best facilitated camps in the country.
• Will pay for the staff that works at the camp under a prearranged rate.
• $25 per kid bonus pay (after first 10 kids).

Tournament Time: A Sports Tournament Hosting Business

 
Tournament Time is a sports tournament hosting business, primarily focused on basketball.   The organization has been operating for the past several years and is managed under the direction of Debbie Moulton.    Debbie is the AAU Girls Basketball Chair for Arizona and is the President of Arizona Fire, a girls basketball club that competes in tournaments around the state and the country.    She has also hosted four AAU Division II Western National Championship tournaments.

In addition to hosting national championship tournaments, Tournament Time has hosted some 20 local tournaments including Arizona AAU state qualifiers, that offer the opportunities for local teams to compete for national championship berths.    Her tournaments are usually AAU sanctioned and insured, a service that is not always present at a tournament.    Player injuries, while rare, do occur periodically and it is nice to know the tournament is insured in case personal insurance is not available for a player.  She has also managed tournaments for NJB, BCI and local high schools.

The 2010 Arizona Junior High School Tournament

The 2010 Arizona Junior High Basketball Tournament begins on Friday, January 8 and 9 and then continues January 15, 16 and 18.  It is expected that many teams will be returning, as well as some new schools joining the competition. This tournament will be limited to 24 teams and will offer tournament officials who are AIA certified.

Admission fees this year are as follows:

Friday      Adults $4   Children 12-17     $2

Saturday (one fee for day)     Adults $5   Children 12-17     $2

Monday (championship day) Adults $5   Children 12-17     $2

Children 11 and under are free!

All-Star Basketball League Holiday Camp 2009

For over 10 years the All-Star Basketball League has proven to be an effective path for many youths towards making their varsity basketball teams.  On December 5, 12, and 19 from 10am - 1pm, the All-Star Basketball League will be holding its 2009 Holiday Camp for 1st through 6th graders. 

For $85.00 per player for all 3 days, campers will be grouped together based on age with activities that will focus on basketball fundamentals such as:

• Shooting Skills
• Ball Hanlding
• Passing
• Footwork
• Proper Defensive Technique

The above skills will be reinforced with drills and competitions. 2nd Annual MLK Hoopfest: San Diego

Teams from Arizona, Nevada, and Northern California will be participating in the Elite Basketball Organization (EBO) and the San Diego Chief Youth Basketball 2nd Annual MLK Hoopsfest tournament which will be hosted in San Diego on Martin Luther King weekend.

Date:  January 16 -17, 2010

Sites:  Various High School Gyms in the San Diego Area.

Participants:  Girls Divisions: 4th - 8th Grade.  Boys Divisions: 4th - 8th Grade.  There will also be a Freshman division.

Awards:  1st and 2nd place & MVP award.

Entry Fee:  $300/team.  $275/team for 2 or more from same club.  Four games guaranteed and 20 minute running halves.  Teams can pay by check before January 1st.

Restrictions:  Must be able to play anytime Saturday and Sunday.  Deadline to register is January 9, 2010.

Arizona Sun Devils & All-Star Basketball League Partner-Up for Basketball Game

All-Star Basketball League (ABL) and ASU are hosting a special night for participants, families, and friends.  ABL will have an exclusive scrimmage on court at halftime of the game.  ABL requests that its fans join them with the Arizona State Sun Devils for a discounted price of just $5.00 per ticket.

The ABL game night is Monday, December 21, 2009 when the Sun Devils will play against the Gauchos of University of California Santa Barbara at 6:30pm at the Wells Fargo Arena.

K-9 Unit Basketball Academy Becomes a Junior Hoops of America Member

K-9 Unit Basketball Academy has become a member of Junior Hoops of America and formed a strategic alliance with JHA which will allow both organizations to cross-market eachother and eventually work on mutual youth basketball projects.

K-9 Unit Basketball offers both a basketball academy and a series of tournament offerings designed to bring to the Phoenix Metro area quality training and tournament options.  In addition,  K-9 Unit Basketball also offers club basketball opportunities for those who are looking to compete at the club team level.  Curently the academy offers club teams from  9 years of age up to Varsity level of play.

With its Junior Hoops of America alliance, K-9 Unit Basketball will have access to additional branding, marketing and public relations for the K-9 Unit Basketball offerings to include academy, club teams, and tournaments.  As part of the association, all Junior Hoops of America members qualify for a $175 tournament team rate on all K-9 Unit tournaments.

With this relationship, Junior Hoops of America continues to form inclusive relationships with valley organizations engaged in the youth basketball industry thus expanding its ability to bring to the public awareness, education and practical information on the valley's youth basketball community. 

Basketball Training Academy Holding Member Registrations and Winter League Club Tryouts

Jump Athletic, a leading youth basketball training program for boys and girls in the Phoenix, Scottsdale area, is holding registrations for its basketball training academy and basketball club team tryouts for Winter youth competitive and recreational basketball leagues.  Tryouts for Jump Athletic youth basketball teams that play in competitive and recreational Winter leagues around the Phoenix/Scottsdale area begin December 1st. 

The academy and club teams are designed for boys and girls in the age group of 7 - 16 years old.  The basketball teams begin practice on Tuesday and Thursday the week of December 7th.  No practices will be held over the Winter break, December 24 - January 2.  Teams will play games in the ABL League which begins on Friday, January 15, 2010.  All team practices will take place after all training academy sessions.

The training academy will be held weekly on Tuesday and Thursday nights from 6pm - 7pm.  Expect to see a trainer-to-player ratio that is considered to be one of the best in the industry.  The academy emphasizes that fundamental drills are the main focus and repetition is the key to improvement.
