The Chandler Wolves Record Another Win With Both Precision Shooting & Defense

Arizona's Chandler Wolves: "The Strongest Steel is Forged in the Hottest Oven"

WolvesAccording to the Chandler Wolves coaching staff,  "we opened the season with a convincing win over visiting Kofa on Monday night with solid full court defense and a complete team effort on the offensive end.  All players got into the score column."

JuniorHoops.com scouted the game and the coaching staff was right on point with their comment.  At the end of the first quarter, the Wolves led 28 to 6 to finish the game with a 65 to 42 final score.   Besides one other tournament game, Chandler's 23 point victory was the second largest win spread in the tournament's opening night.  With this opening win, our prediction that "the sleepers have awakened" is coming true.  Some will say that it is too early to sound the "told-you-so" trumpets on behalf of the Chandler Wolves' basketball program, but we still stand by our earlier article on how we think Chandler will fare for the 2011-12 season.

Co-leading scorer with 12 points for the Chandler Wolves was Daquise Gaines whose quickness, ballhandling and penetration skills gave the Kofa team too much to handle in the paint.   Kisima Jagne was also tied for highest production points with 12 for the night.  Kisima is a powerful presence down low on both offense and defense and with his jumping and blocking ability plays much bigger than his 6' 5" frame.

Omar Lee was the second leading scorer with 10 points and 6 assists.  Javon Williams contributed 7 points and LaRon Tarkington added 6 points.  Outside shooting threat Sophomore, Marco Morales, poured in two 3-pointers for 6 more points.

Others on the team with the exception of one player scored as well.   The impression left for all present to witness was of a team that was well-balanced as both a defensive and offensive threat.  Coach Ellsworth managed the multiple weapons on his team quite well keeping everyone involved in the game.

Special mention must be made to the Wolve's starting point guard, Omar Lee, whose passing capability can easily be categorized as one of the best in Arizona.   Once his teammates become used to his unpredicatable and very much on-target passes, expect to see his 6 assists for the night jump into the double figures.
