J. Mark Carpenter, Chairman of the Eastside Sports Arena Project, along with the City of Mesa, is proposing the renovation of the old Costco building on Power Road be converted to an indoor Sports Arena. The 139,000 facility will feature 10 indoor basketball courts and 4 indoor soccer fields along with a fitness center, sports lobby, and other amenities provided for league and tournament operations. The facility would be the largest basketball venue in the Western United States. The Eastside Sports Arena project is projected to cost $11 million and to profit $1.5 million annually.
