Annual JUCO-MLK Basketball Classic

The community colleges are featured in this tournament.  The goal of the event is to bring attention to the legacy of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. through the recognition and celebration of those in the community.  Through the games, the student-athletes are recognized.  Through the national anthem singers and halftime performers, the cultural arts are recognized.  Through each school's honoree, their efforts and hard work are recognized.

Created  after the success of the High School MLK Basketball Classic, the junior college event is under the leadership of Dr. Steve Hogen (Mesa Public Schools) and Marc A. Beasley (City of Mesa).  Combining their love of basketball and with their history as residents of Mesa, the JUCO-MLK has, in its short history, opened the eyes of many sports enthusiasts to the benefits and athletic prowess of junior college basketball.
