The 2011 Area Codes Basketball Junior College Showcase MVP and Now Wildcats commit Matt Korchek

At Chad Groth's 2011 Area Codes Basketball Junior College Showcase,  Korcheck was voted Most Valuable Player.

During his last season with Cochise College Apaches, Korcheck averaged 14.7 points and 6.5 rebounds. 

Throughout the Arizona basketball scene, Chad Groth's events are known for being the place to be to get to know the 411 of hoops talent.

Chad Groth's most recent event, the 5th Annual Easter Classic Showcase, took place this past weekend.

Arizona Middle School Exposure Showcase By Area Codes Basketball

If you have not noticed, the caliber of play found in today's basketball player is much stronger than it was a decade ago.   If you go back even farther, it becomes very apparent that yesterday's basketball player does not even compete with today's basketball athletes.    Stronger, bigger, faster, quicker and with skills that are developed early in their youth basketball experience is now the norm.   In the past, multiple sports athletes were a common occurrence, however, today with specialization in one sport as the norm and with younger athletes developing their basketball skills sets increasingly at a younger age, the sport of basketball is now producing top performing basketball players all over the country.    With this in mind, showcases are now focusing on the 5th - 8th graders in the exercise of highlighting as early as possible the high school stars of tomorrow.   In Arizona, the Arizona Middle School Exposure Showcase has become one of the elite events where one can find the serious minded parents and players who have chosen basketball as their main preference.  Click on the flyer below to highlight the details of this event.

The 2012 Arizona Reebok Headliner Tryout Camp

The Reebok Basketball Breakout Challenge is an NCAA Live Period Evaluation Camp, where college coaches will be in the house to evaluate recruits for potential scholarship offers. The Reebok Basketball Breakout Challenge will feature some of the top high school players from around the country going head to head in competitive games and skill training. It's all about giving players the chance to break out on the big stage.

As an added incentive, top performers at The Reebok Basketball Breakout Challenge will be invited to join  a private training retreat, The Pre-Season Prep, at the end of the summer to prepare for the upcoming season.

But first to make it to the Reebok Basketball Breakout Challenge one has to earn it at one of the Headliner Try Outs.   The Headliner Try Outs are about providing opportunities to be discovered, and to make a name for yourself. It's not about rankings or ratings, politics or connections, it's about taking your basketball fate in your own hands, and owning it. At the Headliner Try Outs, the ball is in your court.

The Headliner Try Outs will take place in 13 locations throughout the country. Registration will be open to any high school basketball players and is FREE of charge. All you have to do is sign up, show up, and ball out. Top performers from each Headliner Try Out will be invited to The Reebok Basketball Breakout Challenge in Philadelphia on July 10-13.

In Arizona, the Reebok Headliner Try Outs will take place at the Premier Courts in Gilbert, AZ on April 7, 2012. The Premier Courts are located in Gilbert, AZ at 1090 N Fiesta Blvd, Ste 101 - near the intersection of N Fiesta Blvd and W San Angelo Street.

13th Annual Arizona Preps Fall Showcase | Presented by Anthony Ray

The 13th Annual Arizona Preps Fall Showcase, Arizona's original showcase basketball event, will be held October 29-30th, 2011.

The biggest and most exciting exposure event of the year will be held once again at the Arizona Premier Basketball Academy in Gilbert, Arizona.  This event will, once again, be attended by some of the top national and regional basketball scouting services in the country, and will be open to all high school aged boys and girls basketball players in the state.

Anthony Ray is known throughout Arizona as one of the original basketball community leaders with forward-leaning initiatives designed to showcase the best of the best youth basketball players in the area.  

The Arizona Preps Fall Showcase is considered to be the area’s original showcase basketball event that has inspired the growth of many other showcases.   With Arizona’s growing population and its equally growing multiple youth basketball initiatives, much credit is given to Anthony Ray who has led the way in putting Arizona youth basketball on the map.

Washington State Cougars Will Add Arizona's Demarquaise Johnson To Its Roster

Demarquise Johnson, a 6-foot-6, 185-pound senior from Arizona's Westwind Prep decided to take his game to the PAC-12 Conference and play for Washington State and head coach Ken Bone.

Johnson led Westwind Prep Academy to the 2011 2A State championship last season. He has returned to the program as a post-graduate this season.

According to the Arizona Preps Scouting Report: "Demarquaise handles the basketball very well in the open floor, shoots long range, can create his own shot, and plays with very good body control. Also a good finisher in transition, a highlight reel dunker and a slasher in traffic.  Has good defensive skills with the ability to block and change shots.  Solid rebounder but can be better in this area."

Tucson Amphitheater High School's Tim Derksen Commits To The University of San Francisco

Tucson Amphitheater High School's 6-foot-4, 185-pound senior guard/forward Tim Derksen announced his college decision to accept a college scholarship from the University of San Francico and Head Coach Rex Walters.  According to the Arizona Preps' Scouting Report, Derksen is strong at making plays around the basket area, and also finishes plays while slashing to the basket or in transition.  Possesses a good shot with range and is his best when scoring off the dribble.  A good defender and shotblocker with very good ball handling skills thus allowing him to play both guard positions on the floor.
