Young athletes are invited to register early to compete in the Jr. NBA/Jr. WNBA Skills challenge in Queen Creek. The challenge provides boys and girls ages 9 to 14 a free opportunity to showcase their excellence in core basketball skills. Local champions advance to compete in one of 35 regional competitions across the United States in hopes of advancing to the national finals in Orlando, Florida.
The town's Parks and Recreation Department is accepting registrations for the local competition, which will be 10a.m. to noon Feb. 21 at the Queen Creek High School gymnasium, 22149 E. Ocotillo Road. To avoid long lines on the day of the competition, preregister by Thursday. Participants must provide a copy of their birth certificate at the time of registration. Age classification is as of May 16 of the current year.
